Friction is the enemy of quality. Our Chrome Plated Linear Rods are engineered to provide a surgically smooth path for your linear bearings. In a My-Cloner build, the straightness and surface hardness of these rods are what guarantee that your toolhead moves with zero play, ensuring that every 0.1mm layer is perfectly stacked.
Unlike standard stainless steel rods that are soft and prone to bending, our GCR15 Hardened Rods feature a chrome-plated finish that reduces rolling resistance. This means your stepper motors work less, your bearings last longer, and your prints are cleaner. Whether you are using the 8mm version for a lightweight X-axis or the 10mm version for a rigid Z-axis support, these optical axes are the benchmark for Open Source Fabrication.
Why our Linear Rods are a professional’s choice:
-
Industrial Hardness: Surface hardened to HRC58-62 to prevent “grooving” from bearing balls.
-
Micro-Finish Surface: Polished to a mirror-like finish for near-silent linear travel.
-
High Load Capacity: Designed to handle the high accelerations of modern 3D printing Prototyping.
-
Standard Metric Sizes: Available in 8mm and 10mm diameters, compatible with all LM-series bearings.

Consultant’s Pro-Tip: When assembling your My Machines project, never force a bearing onto a rod. If it feels “gritty,” clean the rod with isopropyl alcohol and apply a thin coat of Lithium Grease. For the My-Cloner, ensure your rods are perfectly parallel; even a 0.5mm misalignment can cause “binding,” leading to lost steps and motor overheating.
📦 Package Includes: 1x Chrome Plated Linear Rod (selected diameter and length).
