Affordable Laser Cutter

MY-Laser CNC v2

The MY-Laser CNC project started as a solution to an industrial challenge at my workplace. Over time, it evolved into an open-source project that I am now sharing with the community. This laser cutter is designed to be affordable, accessible, and customizable, making it perfect for makers, small businesses, and DIY enthusiasts.

With a 30W diode laser, an ESP32-based control system, and Wi-Fi & USB connectivity, the MY-Laser CNC provides a powerful and user-friendly laser engraving and cutting experience.

Key Features

Affordable & Easy to Build

Uses readily available components and materials.

  • Low Maintenance Cost: Built with standard V-Slot aluminum profiles and 3D printed parts, making repairs cheap and replacements instant.
  • Off-the-Shelf Hardware: Motors (NEMA 17), screws, and belts are standard components available at any local hardware or electronics store—no expensive proprietary parts.
  • Beginner-Friendly Assembly: Designed to be assembled with basic tools (Allen keys and wrenches), requiring no complex workshop equipment.
  • Optimized Bill of Materials: The BOM is carefully refined to provide the best cost-to-performance ratio, ensuring you don’t overspend on unnecessary components.

Open-Source & Community-Driven

Fully documented with an active maker community.

  • Full Access to Files: We provide all STL files and original CAD drawings, giving you the power to study, replicate, or modify every single part.
  • No Vendor Lock-in: You truly own the machine. You have total control over both hardware and firmware, unlike restricted commercial alternatives.
  • Transparent Design: Detailed documentation on mechanics and electronics, perfect for educational purposes or for anyone wanting to understand what goes on “under the hood.”
  • Continuous Evolution: The project benefits from community feedback, resulting in constant updates and improvements that are shared freely.

Customizable & Expandable

Modify and improve according to your needs.

  • Scalable Work Area: The modular design allows you to easily increase the machine’s size simply by swapping the aluminum profiles and belts for longer ones.
  • Ready for Upgrades: The structure is designed to easily accept essential add-ons like Air Assist, cable drag chains, or a honeycomb worktable.
  • Interchangeable Laser Modules: The laser mount is adaptable, allowing you to upgrade to more powerful modules or different wavelengths in the future.
  • Adjustable Z-Axis: The manual focus system allows for easy adjustment, enabling you to engrave on objects of varying thicknesses, from paper to wood blocks.

Advanced Features

Mobile and web-based control, adjustable laser height, and a touchscreen interface.

  • High-Speed 32-Bit Processing: Powered by the ESP32, it delivers smoother movements, faster engraving speeds, and superior precision compared to older 8-bit boards.
  • Offline Operation: Includes an integrated SD card slot, allowing the machine to run autonomously without needing a computer attached for hours.
  • Industry-Standard Software: Works natively with the best software available, including LightBurn (industry standard) and LaserGRBL (free).
  • Full Wireless Control: A responsive WebUI allows you to upload files and control the axes directly from your smartphone or tablet browser—no drivers needed.
